WE MEASURE. WE 3D SCAN. WE CUSTOM FIT.

Finding Your Perfect Fit

When it comes to shoes, one size does not fit all. Approximately 60% of adults have one foot that’s longer and/or wider than the other, not to mention varying arch heights/lengths and foot ailments. But, at Beck’s Shoes you’ll be guaranteed a proper fit every time, thanks to the renown double Brannock system that measures the length, width and arch length of both feet simultaneously, as well as insole scanning systems that check for pressure points and arch height! Beck’s aims to stay cutting edge and is even beginning to implement a 3D scanning system that will soon become a standard of care at all locations!

Why does Beck’s go to all this trouble? First, customer service and the desire to exceed the expectations of every customer is central to the business’s philosophy. But, also, the educated team members at Beck’s know that the key to a well fitting shoe is understanding the nuances of each individual foot so that insoles and fit aids can be employed to give each wearer the utmost comfort.

WE MEASURE

Beck's Shoes famous Double Brannock. We Measure.

Don’t Skip the Brannock!

Even if you’ve been measured before, our feet can change due to pregnancy, injury and age.

The Double Brannock System has been used in Beck’s stores for generations, but don’t dismiss this simple device as out of date. The Brannock device (specifically, our unique double Brannock) is 97% accurate and has been a staple in the shoe industry since it was patented by Charles Brannock in 1927.

This simple tool helps you to learn the length of each foot, which can often be slightly different. An associate will likely size you to fit the larger foot and use a fit aid to create a perfect fit on the smaller foot!

The Brannock will also determine width (again, this can vary from foot to foot and often requires a fit aid to accommodate this difference), and, finally, arch length. This often overlooked aspect of foot size can make or break a good shoe fit. Arch length determines the distance between your heel and the ball of your foot.

Since we flex our feet at the ball joint when we walk, it is essential to find a shoe that can accommodate either short or long arches. According to Brannock.com, ignoring this important measurement can result in improper fit that may lead to a variety of foot maladies. Be sure to get fitted periodically to ensure the best fit.

Next, step on an Aetrex 3D Foot Scanner to determine your particular pressure points and your arch height.

Beck’s Shoes stocks a wide variety of insoles, such as Aetrex and Superfeet, and socks, such as Wigwam, OS1st and Feetures, that can ease pressure point pain and provide critical arch support!

After you’ve been measured and scanned, you’ll begin the search for a shoe to fit your needs. Be sure to ask questions and rely on the trained professionals at Beck’s to guide you! You’ll find a wide variety of shoe styles, socks, insoles and fit aids to address most any foot size, shape, and need.

WE 3D SCAN

The Aetrex 3D Foot Scanner can send you an email of the information obtained in your foot scan for future records.

Always FREE Fitting Aids are your friend!

Beck’s offers a variety of fit aids to help you get a custom feel, almost like your shoes were made especially for your particular feet! Working with a trained team member who is familiar with foot ailments, proper measurement techniques, and the usage of fit aids, such as heel grips and tongue pads, can make all the difference!

Tongue Pad

Tongue Pad

Tongue Pads easily stick to the tongue of a shoe and help press down on the instep of one's foot. This eliminates extra space and creates a snug fit. They’re also great for taking up half sizes when accommodating for slightly different sized feet, and they can help prevent heel slipping.

Foam Tap

Foam Tap

A foam tap can be placed at the forefront of a shoe to help push the foot back and prevent toe cramping and heel slipping. They also work well for creating a snug fit on narrow or shallow footed individuals.

Heel Grip

Heel Grip

Used in conjunction with a foam tap or a tongue pad, the heel grip provides added comfort and a secure fit. It’s best to cut these in half and stick them at the back heel counter of the shoe to embrace the natural “fat pad” of a person’s heel.

Heel Lift

Heel Lift

These should be placed at the base of the shoe where the heel sits. They can take up extra space, provide extra cushioning, and alleviate painful rubbing in a stiffer shoe.

Suede Halter

Suede Halter

Often used in shoes with a heel, the suede halter is placed at the front of the shoe where the metatarsal sits. These fit aids help push the foot back, prevent toe cramping and foot slipping, and, in turn, prevent heel slipping as well. A must have for those who wear heels.

Pinch Pad

Pinch Pad

Pinch pads are used exclusively in steel toe safety shoes and boots. When placed properly they can eliminate any pinching and rubbing that might occur.
