Adam is the Chief Executive Officer of Beck’s Shoes. His role in the company is varied and complex. He manages fiscal duties such as cash flow, profits and losses, and evaluation of operating expenses, but his role expands far beyond these responsibilities. His daily goal is to continually evaluate every process within the company to ensure tasks are being tackled efficiently, and that the entire team has the tools and systems needed to feel motivated and supported in their work. His job is to help cultivate an ecosystem that supports each individual and the company as a whole. To do this effectively, he invests a lot of time and energy in the understanding of the individual needs of teams and people, all while synthesizing the productivity of each moving part to contribute to the success of the business as a whole. His deep understanding of all the puzzle pieces that create the face of Beck’s Shoes, along with a clear vision of the company’s future is integral to its success.
His preparation for this role began in his youth as he spent summers learning the ropes from his Dad, Uncle, and Grandfather. As young as 12 years old he was introduced to work in the warehouse, stores, and stockroom. He continued learning from the ground up, working part time in the stockroom during his early years of high school, until he transitioned to full time retail work through a work experience program in his junior and senior year. After graduating he moved to the office, warehouse and distribution center, began contributing toward marketing, and worked as a store manager. As life progressed he held the titles of General Manager, Vice President of Operations, Chief Financial Officer, and finally, his current role as CEO. All together, he has amassed nearly 27 years of devotion and experience in his chosen field and takes immense pride in the family business he has helped to keep growing and thriving!
During his tenure he has contributed to the exponential growth of the company, helping to take Beck’s from a small business with storefronts in the single digits and locations in just two states, to a thriving corporation that now operates in six states with an impressive 25 Locations! In 2022 he was honored, alongside his cousin Julia, to receive an “Inc. 5000” award, naming Beck’s Shoes among the top 5000 fastest growing businesses in America! He was beyond proud to also see Beck’s earn a Gold Medal Service award from Footwear Insight, dubbing the company “#1 in the Nation” for outstanding customer service! Multiple feature articles in prominent magazines (Footwear Insight, Footwear News & Footwear Plus) have been the icing on the cake of his very fulfilling career!
Adam is equally passionate about his life outside of work and is grateful to have a close knit family, longtime friends, a devoted girlfriend, loving daughter and adoring pup! He has learned the importance of making time for the people you love, and is grateful for the many incredible people he’s known in his life.
His interests and passions are many, but he places special emphasis on health and fitness, adventure and travel, and his love of unique, beautiful, and delicious food! He has been especially inspired by Anthony Bordain and is intent on prioritizing travel and food in his life, hoping to visit 50 countries by the time he’s 50 years old! He believes the experience of travel and learning about other cultures alters his perceptions, helps him to grow and evolve, and ultimately become the best version of himself! He longs to lead by example and promotes the importance of prioritizing relationships, living with honesty and integrity, and finding peace with life by “controlling the controllable” and letting that be enough. He is gratified by his ability to recognize, recruit and retain talented team members at Beck’s, and finds fulfillment in helping to provide opportunity for development and growth in the incredible people he’s been blessed to know. He lives by the CS Lewis quote: “You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending”.
